US CG visits SSU HQs

Karachi: Brian G. Heath Consul General of United States of America has lauded the efforts for establishing an international level law enforcement outfit in Sindh Police and sustainable endeavour to further enhance the professional capabilities of commandos.

This he observed during a visit to different sections of Special Security Unit Sindh Police Headquarters here Thursday.

Maqsood Ahmed AIGP, Security Special Security Unit Sindh Police, briefed about the various sections of the SSU and informed about the measures adopted to setup country’s first Special Weapons and

Tactics Team (S.W.A.T), the efforts to establish a Counter Terrorism University, details of advanced professional training to commandos including lady commandos and issuance of ISO certificate on maintaining international standard in the field of Performing Counter Terrorism Operations, Provision of Foolproof Security Services to national and foreign dignitaries.

The Consul General said that the professionalism in policing is essential to protect the lives and properties of the common man and check the activities of terrorists and hardened criminals as well.

Brian G. Heath further said that the setting up of Special Weapons and Tactics Team (S.W.A.T) is the need of the hour and in five years of its existence SSU has become a potent force.

The Consul General and AIGP Security Special Security Unit exchanged views on issues of mutual interest with special reference to efforts being made in eliminating the menace of terrorism.

The Consul General also witnessed the mock exercise conducted by the commandos of Special Weapons and Tactics Team (S.W.A.T) to rush to the spot where hostile situation is created by the terrorists.

The Regional Security Officer, INL Program Manager and Assistant Regional Security Officer from the US Consulate General Karachi also accompanied the Consul General.
