UWT announces to perform a grand sacrifice of animals on Eidul AzhaOctober 1, 2014
Peshawar: Ummah Welfare Trust (UWT), a United Kingdom based non-governmental organisation, has announced to perform a grand sacrifice of animals worth around Rs 121 million on Eidul Azha this year.
According to the media cell, UWT will sacrifices 2000 large and 3500 small animals. Meat of the sacrificial animals would be distributed among the internally displaced persons of North Waziristan and the flood affected of Punjab and Azad Khasmir, as well as the deserving people of Afghanistan.
In his message on the occasion, Chairman UWT Maulana Mohammad Idress said that following the sacred act of Hazrat Ibrahim, Muslims sacrifice millions of animals every year worldwide. “What we need to understand is the philosophy behind sacrifice and to be obedient to Almighty Allah with the same commitment that was manifested in the act of Hazrat Ibrahim and Hazrat Ismael,” he added.
He underlined the fact that this is the only occasion when the poor and needy in our society get the opportunity to receive a handsome amount of consumable meat and we should make our best effort to ensure the delivery of the sacrificial meat to every poor and needy person.
In his message to the Trust volunteers, the chairman said even if they have to go on foot to reach the needy people living in the most difficult areas of Azad Kashmir, Punjab and KPK, they must not hesitate and reach out to them to deliver the sacrificial meat.
On the other hand Ummah Welfare Trust also distributed 5000 Eid Gifts among the flood afectees of Jhang, Muzafar Ghar and Athaara Hazari area of Punjab, and orphan’s children of UWT at Ummah Academy Nowshera.
