Uzma Khalid elected as President Quetta Women Chamber

Quetta: Renowned female entrepreneur of the Baluchistan, Uzma Khalid has been elected unopposed as President of the Quetta Women Chamber of Commerce & Industry (WCCIQTA) for the term 2015-2016.

According to a press release issued here Monday, Annual General Meeting of the WCCIQTA was held with chamber’s outgoing and founder president Fehmida Jamali in chair.

During the meeting Uzma Khalid was elected President of the WCCIQTA unopposed while Ms Mukhtar Fatima was elected as Senior Vice President and Ms Ambreen Aftab Shiekh was elected as VP.

At the occasion Uzma thanked participants for reposing confidence in her saying that, “Pakistan can only become a developed nation when women are encouraged and their skills utilised properly.” Spilling out her priorities, she said that she will assist women so that they can have a voice and become economically empowered.

She lauded the women empowerment initiatives undertaken by the government asking the authorities to do more in this regard.

She said that we would provide an atmosphere that fits the needs of female entrepreneurs so that they can promote their business in local and international markets.

Pakistan continue to face growing energy demand which must be resolved through proper intervention as we cannot have a future without ample energy, said Dr. Hashmi adding that inflation has hit masses hard which can be intercepted though productivity and creativity.

Uzma Khalid also paid glowing tribute to the services of outgoing president Senator Kalsoom Parveen who has dedicated her energies to the promotion of businesswomen. Speaking at the occasion, Senator Kalsoom Parveen said that WCCIQTA has emerged as a strong institution giving help, guidance and hope the female entrepreneurs in Balochistan. We will continue to cooperate with all the stakeholders for the greater and collective good, she added.
