Woman among nine killed in Karachi violence

KARACHI: Nine people, including a woman, were killed and three others injured in separate incidents of violence in the metropolis on Friday. Three persons were shot dead when unknown armed men opened fire on a car in Surjani Town. The victims were identified as Sunny, 22, son of Mateen, Ashraf, 30, son of Islamuddin, and Akhtar Ansari.

According to police, unknown armed men opened fire on a car as a result, three people were injured. They were shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) for treatment where they succumbed to their injuries. All deceased were reportedly workers of a religio-political party.

The bullet-riddled bodies of three men were found near a water plant at Mauripur truck stand gate No 3. The victims were shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) for medico-legal formalities. The identity of the victims could not be ascertained yet.

Faizullah, 18, was gunned downed by unknown armed men in Korangi No 4. The body was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for an autopsy.

In another incident, Nadeem Abbas, 30, was gunned down by unidentified armed men in North Karachi Sector 5C. The body was shifted to ASH for an autopsy.

Yet in another incident, an unknown woman, aged 22, was shot dead by unknown armed men near Lines Area telephone exchange. The body was shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) for medico-legal formalities.

Meanwhile, Mohammad Aslam, 45, son of Mohammad Maqbool, was injured in a dagger attack in Orangi Town. He was taken to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center (JPMC) for treatment. The motive behind attack and identification of attackers could not be ascertained.

Separately, Sultan, 25, son of Mureed was injured in firing incident by unknown armed men near Soorti Factory Behns Colony. He was taken to ASH for treatment.
