KARACHI: Member Sindh Assembly from Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Irum Azeem Farooqui has said that all parties including MQM should give chance to women to contest election on general seats instead of giving them special seats.

Addressing to a seminar on “Protection against Harassment of Women at the Workplace” at a local hotel arranged by provincial ombudsman, she emphasized to increase opportunities for women to empower them.

She said that women are only elected on special seats, but it is necessary to give chances to them to contest elections on general seats. Participation of women members in legislation is more than the participation of men members and it is admitted by speaker of Sindh assembly, she added.

While talking to media, she denied joining Mustafa Kamal’s party. She said that it is Kamal’s right to do politics.
