KARACHI: Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) Sindh President Haleem Adil Shaikh on Thursday warned government to avoid disrupting upcoming Youm-e-Shuhda event in Lahore and said that if any disruptions is made by PML-N leadership, the event would be turned into Youm-e-Inqalab.

Addressing a press conference at Karachi Press Club, Shaikh said that they had not announced any protest against government but if their peaceful event is disrupted, they would be forced to convert the event into Youm-e-Inqalab, for which they had not announced any date yet.

He said that their fear had proven true as PML-N government had started replay of June 17 incident that claimed lives of several people. “The current democracy is not a democracy instead it is the worst example of civilian dictatorship,” he said adding that PML-N had sent several Gullu Butts to Tahirul Qadri residence to harass people.

He said that PML-Q could no more leave people on the mercy of those rulers and thousands of people would participate in Youm-e-Shuhada event at Model Town Lahore from Sindh and other parts of the country. “Thousands of people will show up at Youm-e-Shuhda event and sent the government packing till August end.”

He said that during long march for the restoration of judges, Nawaz Sharif had asked policemen to refuse illegal orders of rulers which led a police officer to refuse baton charging protestors in Lahore while Shahbaz Sharif had also threatened to drag former president Asif Ali Zardari on roads but no cases were lodged against them for inciting people for violence, but now PML-N was registering cases against Tahirul Qadri.

He asked PML-N as to why cases were not lodged against killings at Model Town and the people responsible for those acts.

PML-Q leader said that innocent people were being arrested for having affiliations with political parties which were staging protest against the government but PML-N leader involved in ransacking police station was roaming freely.

He said that direction of PTI and PML-Q was same and they would soon join each other. “PPP is in the middle of the situation but soon they would also be a part of movement against PML-N,” he said adding that MWM was also part of their alliance against government.

“Nawaz government is conspiring to bring army and people in front of each other,” he said that army was more required in Karachi than in Islamabad.
