Zardari condemns attempt on life of PPP leader Najmuddin’s son

Islamabad: Former President Asif Ali Zardari has condemned that attempt on the life of the son of PPP leader Najmuddin Khan in Upper Dir on Wednesday and called for arrest of the culprits and punishment to them in accordance with the law.

Rahatullah the son of PPP leader and former federal minister Najmuddin Khan escaped attempt on his life when unidentified people opened fire on his vehicle in Upper Dir on Wednesday.

In a statement the former President said that Najmuddin Khan has been receiving threats for quite some time while Dir has also witnessed militant attacks in the past which PPP leaders have lost their lives. Najmuddin Khan was also very active in the bye election in PK 93 Upper Dir- a seat won by the PPP candidate in a one on one contest between the ruling alliance and the opposition parties in the province, he said.

The former President called for a thorough investigation, arrest of the culprits and provision of security to the people the general and najmuddin Khan in general in the area. Zardari also expressed satisfaction that Rahatullah escaped unhurt.
