10 killed in fresh spate of violence in Karachi

Karachi: At least 10 people including 2 cops were killed in the spate of violence in Karachi on Sunday. Police and rescue services said unknown snipers ambushed a police mobile van in Patel Para, killing two policemen and injuring another. The slain cops belonged to PIB Colony police station.

Separately, two bodies with bullet holes were recovered from Bihar Colony area of Lyari town. The victims were shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi CHK. Another body with bullet holes was found from Garden Dhobi Ghat area. In Lyari also a man and an eight years old girl Dua died and eight others injured when criminal threw a hand grenade near Gabol Park. The bodies and injured were removed to CHK. In Hangorabad Lyari at least 3 persons were injured in a hand grenade attack. They were shifted to the CHK.

A man died and two others injured in a firing incident at Hussain Hazara Goth Gulshan-e-Iqbal town, while the body of a woman was found near Altaf Nagar, Korangi crossing area.

Lyari and adjoining areas remained tense throughout the day where police and rangers conducted a door-to-door search operation. They also arrested some suspects and began further probe.
