13 more dengue fever cases reported in city

Karachi: Thirteen more dengue viral fever cases were reported in Karachi on Monday, increasing the patients’ toll to 579 during 2013 so far, said Dengue Surveillance Cell Sindh.

Dr M Shakeel Aamir Mullick Focal Person for Dengue Surveillance Cell Sindh said that a total of 596 dengue fever cases had been reported in Sindh province since January 2013, out of them 579 were reported in Karachi and 17 in rest of province. He said six dengue patients expired in Karachi this year.

Mullick further said that nine dengue patients were still admitted to different hospitals of the Sindh and 13 new cases were reported in the city from 9th to 12th August, while three cases were detected in Hyderabad.

However, 18 patients were discharged from hospitals after treatment.
