152 KMC system cameras working fine, 900 more to be added

Karachi: Karachi Metropolitan Corporation KMC Administrator Syed Hashim Raza Zaidi has said that 152 cameras linked with Command & Control System were working successfully on important locations of the city whereas their circle was being expanded further and installation work of 900 cameras more on other important locations in the city has started which was being carried out with a cost of Rs700million so that city could be monitored effectively and peace could maintain.

This amount was being provided from governor package. He said this while addressing a ceremony held in Civic Center Seminar Hall on Thursday. The ceremony was held on 5 years successful completion of Command & Control System and 3 years completion of Central Control Room 1339.

On this occasion KMC Metropolitan Commissioner Matanat Ali Khan, Sr. Director Municipal Services Masood Alam, Arif Rajan and Shahid Muneer of Command & Control System and other officers were present.

Zaidi said that Command & Control System was established in January 2008, the era of former city mayor Syed Mustafa Kamal. The Command & Control System was established for providing citizens and city infrastructure with secure environment which have produced best outcomes. The Command & Control System was working in 3 shifts for 24 hours where staff consisting of 85 persons along with engineers and technicians of different sectors was busy all the time.

He said that Command & Control System was working well under public private partnership for which he congratulates all team of Command & Control System.

Hashim Raza Zaidi informed that KMC has its own fiber optic system for working of cameras therefore no rent would have to be paid for new cameras.

He said that Karachi was mega city and financial hub of Pakistan. It was quite necessary to maintain here peace so that progress of Karachi could continue nonstop.

On this occasion it was also informed that city was watched over on 320 video walls through 152 cameras carefully and if any unusual situation was found then its information was provided to law & enforcement agencies immediately.

The processions of Muharramul Haram, Eid Miladunnabi and others occasions were monitored through Command & Control System which has helped curbing unusual situations in the city and along with safety measures in Corridor-I, Corridor-II, M. A. Jinnah Road, Saddar and other areas medical aid with ambulances, fire brigade and machinery could be sent immediately in case of any accident and traffic jam in the city whereas street crimes were also controlled under Command & Control System and suspected activities could also be watched over properly. Efforts were also being made to control crimes through close circuit cameras in the city.

Earlier, shields were presented to KMC Administrator Syed Hashim Raza Zaidi, Metropolitan Commissioner Matanat Ali Khan, Sr. Director Municipal Services Masood Alam and Khalid Faheem, Arif Rajan, Mansoor Ali, Safdar Abbas, Shakeel Ahmed of executive committee of Command & Control System whereas Shehzad Hanif, Nazish Farooq, Adnan Quraishi, Erum Naz, Imran Siddiqui and Shoaib Nasir were also presented with shields on best performance in Command & Control System.
