Islamabad: According to a Gilani Research Foundation Survey carried out by Gallup Pakistan, 16% Pakistanis said the candidate they voted for in National Assembly belongs to their community.

A nationally representative sample of men and women from across the four provinces was asked “Does the candidate you voted for in National Assembly belong to your community or some other community?” Responding to this, 16% said my community, 54% said some other community, 28% said we do not have a particular community and 1% said others. However, 1% did not give a response.

This question was also asked in February 2008, when 13% said my community, 52% said some other community and 32% said we do not have a particular community. However, 2% did not give a response.

The study was released by Gilani foundation and carried out by Gallup Pakistan, the Pakistani affiliate of Gallup International.

The recent survey was carried out among a sample of 2645 men and women in rural and urban areas of all four provinces of the country, during April 29, 2013 – May 06, 2013. Error margin is estimated to be approximately ± 2-3 per cent at 95% confidence level.
