Pakistan has much capability to achieve prosperity: President

President Dr Arif Alvi says despite the fact that Pakistan has been facing difficulties and challenges, it has many strengths which helped it to successfully overcome many crises.

He was virtually addressing a seminar on the role of Presidency, organized by London School of Economics Students Union Pakistan Development Society.

The President said Pakistan advocates for peace throughout the world on the basis of equality, dignity and sovereignty and wants resolutions of outstanding international and regional conflicts through negotiations.

He stressed that the international community and the United Nation should play their role to resolve the long standing issue of Jammu and Kashmir in the spirit of the UN Security Council’s resolutions.

The President said they should also take stock of rising religious extremism in India, its Hindutva ideology, Islamophobia and persecution of minorities, especially Muslims.

Nearly 50,000 migrants died in search of better life since 2014: IOM

International Organization for Migration (IOM) says at least 50,000 migrants have been died while undertaking risking journeys in search of a better life across the world since 2014.

In a report, it said thousands of deaths have been documented across migration routes each year.

It said the nationality for over 30,000 people in the Missing Migrants Project is unknown, which means that more than 60 per cent of those who die on migratory routes remain unidentified.

Bilateral dialogue on Pak-Afghan ties held in Islamabad to discuss security, border issues

A bilateral dialogue on Pak-Afghan relations was held at the Institute of Strategic Studies in Islamabad.

The dialogue attended by foreign policy experts of Pakistan and Afghanistan discussed bilateral ties, security, border issues, areas of convergence, trade, visa challenges, transit trade and regional connectivity.

The bilateral dialogue was divided into two sessions; the first working session was on Pak-Afghan Political Ties: Exploring Avenues for Cooperation, and the second working session was on Pak-Afghan Economic Ties: Exploring Opportunities.
