300,000 computerized arms licenses forms issued

Karachi: Additional Chief Secretary Home, Sindh, Mumtaz Ali Shah, on Friday said that 300, 000 forms of computerized arms licenses had been issued.

Home ministry started this campaign in October 2013 with the cooperation of National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA). Special registration counters were established at the offices of the Deputy Commissioners of 27 districts of Sindh province.

Talking to PPI, Shah did not tell how much forms have been submitted but said that same number of forms would return that was issued after registering license number.

He said figures regarding number of forms submitted could be obtained from National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) officials, who are receiving forms at deputy commissioners’ offices. “I myself receive figures on daily basis from NADRA officials.”

The additional home secretary said that the forms could be obtained and submitted at any deputy commissioner’s office but it would be sent to the concerned deputy commissioner for scrutinizing. He further said that a desk was also established in home ministry to obtain and submit forms after giving biometrics.

Shah said that advertisements were published in several newspapers, informing people regarding extension of the deadline for computerization of manual arms licenses while a complaint number was also provided to lodge a complaint in case of any problem.
