400mgd water shortage glares KWSB

Karachi: Managing Director Karachi Water & Sewerage Board KWSB Misbahuddin has said that all-out measures would be taken to ensure smooth water supply services to citizens in summer.

Addressing a meeting here Friday, he asked that performance must be enhanced at all pumping stations and blockages must be cleared on immediate basis. He directed to place water supply schedules at all the pumping stations.

He also directed D.M.D Technical Services to pay special attention to line leakages and ensure that precious water is not wasted. He said it is a fact that the water quota allocated from River Indus is not sufficient for Karachi. “We are short of 400 million gallons on daily basis and all our appeals for increment in quota have been ignored. However, we are striving to provide the citizens of Karachi with swift water supply services.”

We are also striving to improve and enhance our water supply system and directions have been issued to improve the water supply infrastructure and water supply system. Although we face financial constraints officers and workers of KW&SB are working hard to provide relief to the citizens during upcoming summers.

Moreover, elimination of illegal hydrants is also a need of the hour and citizens should cooperate with us in this regard, he added. He said that if citizens cooperate we can easily overcome water theft and provide better utility services to the citizens.

M.D KW&SB appealed to the citizens that to use water with caution and avoid unnecessary usage of water so that provision to tale end consumers can be ensured. He said that KW&SB is a public service institution providing services to more than 20 million citizens of Karachi which is not an easy task.
M.D KW&SB appreciating KESC cooperation stated that KESC is ensuring 24/7 electric supply to all pumping stations in order to help the citizens by ensuring swift supply to citizens.
