42 more dengue fever cases reported in city in two days

Karachi: As many as 42 dengue viral fever cases were reported in Karachi during the last two days, increasing patients’ toll to 939 during 2013, said Dengue Surveillance Cell Sindh on Wednesday.

Dr M Shakeel Aamir Mullick Focal Person for Dengue Surveillance Cell Sindh said that a total of 985 dengue fever cases have been reported in Sindh province since January 2013, out of them 939 were reported in Karachi and 46 in rest of province. He said 10 dengue patients expired in city this year so far.

Mullick said that 42 dengue patients were still admitted to different hospitals of the Sindh and nine new cases were reported in city on Wednesday while 33 occurred on Tuesday. He said total 79 dengue fever patients’ cases were detected in province in this month so far.

He informed that 33 cases were detected in Hyderabad, two in Kambar, two in Sanghar, two in Shikarpur , two in Thatta , one in Larkana, one in Dadu, one in Khairpur, , one in Naushehro Feroz, and one in Kashmore since January 2013.

However, 11 patients were discharged from hospitals after treatment in the city.
