43 cops embraced martyrdom in last three months

KARACHI: Inspector General Police IGP Sind Shahid Nadeem Baloch on Tuesday attended the funeral prayer of assistant sub inspector Shakeel and head constable Feroz Khan in Police Headquarters Garden.

Additional IGP Karachi Ghulam Shabbir Shaikh, additional IGP Traffic, additional IGP CID, DIG Traffic, DIG T&T and others police officers were present. Both cops had died last night in firing of unidentified armed men at Lasbela Traffic police checkpoint within the limits of Soldier Bazaar police station.

Talking to media IGP Sind said protection of citizens and controlling criminal elements is the prime duty of police. He said morale of police could not be shaken due to terrorist attacks and police will continue its targeted raids on criminals.

He directed the senior police officers that the bereaved families should be provide with all assistance according to the departmental procedure.

According to police reports 43 police officers were embraced martyrdom, including a DSP, an inspector, four sub inspectors, five assistant sub inspectors, five head constables and 27 constables during encounters from first of January to 01 April 2013.
