9th batch of 66 beneficiaries complete BISP trainingMarch 9, 2013
KARACHI: The 10day long WaseelaeHaq training workshop under the aegis of Benazir Income Support Programme BISP concluded here on Saturday.
As many as 66 families selected through balloting under WaseelaeHaq programme of BISP from all over Karachi attended it.
Speaking on the occasion, Director General BISP Sindh Zafarullah Soomro informed that beneficiaries have been selected through balloting by President Asif Ali Zardari for grant of interest free loan up to Rs 0.3 million so that they could launch their own business and improve socio economic condition of their family members.
“It offers Rs 300,000 lac longterm interest free financial assistance to be recovered in 15 years without any collateral.” He said the government had started helping deserving people in education, health, insurance and introduced insurance scheme for the widows who lost their bread earners.
Speaking at the ceremony, Naveeda Warsi, Director BISP Karachi said that Under BISP, different projects have been launched by the government aimed to eradicate poverty and improve the socioeconomic condition of the poor people of the country. The programme is being carried out in transparent manner with availability of all required data of the beneficiaries, she added.
Pervaiz Iqbal Director HQ said that BISP WaseelaeHaq scheme was formulated with the mission of “Breaking the vicious cycle of poverty through micro loans”. Through this, female beneficiaries from the most marginalized segment of society are selected through a computerized prize draw so as to receive a loan of up to Rs. 300,000 for setting up an enterprise.
In the last DG BISP distributed the certificates amongst the beneficiaries who have completed their training. BISP, ECI, PPAF officials were present there.
