Administrator inspects site for new council hall

Karachi: Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) Administrator Rauf Akhtar Farooqui has directed Engineering Department to prepare PC-I for construction of new Council Hall in the Old KMC Building so that work on it could begin immediately and complete by the time new council was formed for KMC.

He said this on a visit of old KMC building to allocate space for new council hall along with the D.G Engineering Niaz Soomro, Sr. Director Municipal Services, Sr. Director HRM, Director Council, Director Naib Nazim Secretariat, Director Archive, Chief Engineer Buildings, Superintending Engineer, Director CIM and other officers.

Administrator Karachi also inspected the existing council hall in the KMC building where he noted that the hall did not had the capacity to meet with future requirements of city council which was expected to comprise over 350 members.

He said in order to provide more space and seating arrangements in the council hall along with the visitor and press gallery and office a new hall should be constructed inside the KMC building.

He also instructed the engineering department to design this hall in such a manner that it could cater to all future requirements and start the initial paper work right now so that work on it could initiate after the approval of PC-I.
