In Afghanistan, at least eight people were killed and four others wounded in a suicide attack in Kunar province in the east of Afghanistan.

The incident occurred when a suicide bomber detonated his explosive near a check post of Afghan Local Police in the district.

Meanwhile, the Kabul-Kandahar Highway, a main route which connects the capital city with southern provinces, was closed today to traffic following Taliban attack on government forces. Taliban confirmed the clash in a statement. Officials have not provided details on possible causalities in the clashes.

A report by BBC says the UK government will send 440 more troops to Afghanistan to train the Afghan National Defense and Security Force members.

Britain has up to 600 troops in Afghanistan at present, mainly based in Kabul, training officers and not engaged in combat.
