Mingora: A leader of Awami National Party (ANP) was killed near Swat on Sunday when a remote-controlled explosive devise went off near his car. Mukarram Shah, a local leader of ANP, was going from Bajnot to Manglor when his car was hit by an explosive device. He died on the spot. Police rushed to the area and began investigation.

ANP strongly condemned the assassination of its leader and demanded of the government to give proper protection to their workers and leaders. ANP chief Asfandyar Wali said leaders of his party were being targeted. He asked how fair and free elections would be possible when terrorists are freely targeting political cadres. He demanded of the caretaker government and Election Commission of Pakistan to provide security to their leaders and candidates.

However, caretaker prime minister Hazar Khan Khoso and interior minister Malik Habib Khan took serious notice of the killing of Mukarram Shah and sought a report from Inspector General of Police Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa. They condemned the murder of Shah and condoled with the bereaved family.
