Aqeel, Abid, Usman, Yasir enter in tennis tourney semis

Karachi: Favorite Aqeel Khan, Muhammad Abid, Usman Ejaz, and Yasir Khan cruised into the men s singles semifinals after winning their respective quarterfinal matches in the inaugural Eastern Testing Services PTF Ranking Tennis Championship 2013 at Syed Dilawar Abbas PTF Tennis Complex in Islamabad.

Pakistan No 1 Aqeel Khan found little resistance from his quarterfinal opponent Ahmed Chaudhry and recorded a convincing 6-0, 6-1 victory.

Meanwhile, Mohammad Abid found tough resistance from his opponent Shahzad Khan. Abid recovered from a set down to eventually beat Shahzad by 6-7(8), 7-6(5), 6-4 score after a marathon encounter.

Usman Ejaz thrashed Sanaullah Khan registering a straight-set 6-2, 6-0 victory to secure his place in the pre-finals of the event.

Second seed Yasir Khan also eased into the semifinals after his quarterfinal opponent Faizan Khurram retired from the match when Yasir was leading 3-1.

Meanwhile, top seed Mohammad Mudassir confirmed his presence in boys U18 singles semifinals after overpowering Hamza Bin Asif by 7-5, 6-0 score.

Hasnain Manzoor defeated Saad Zafar by 6-1, 7-6(2) score. Mohammad Muzammil recovered from a set down to beat Syed Nofil Kaleem by 4-6, 6-1, 6-4 score. Arham Atiq dispatched Zaid Mujahid recording a 6-3, 7-5 victory.
