Istanbul (OIC-UNA) The Istanbul Declaration, issued Friday at the conclusion of the 10th plenary session of Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA), emphasized the right of the Palestinian People to establish an independent State on the borders of 4 June, with Jerusalem as its capital.

The Declaration condemned all Israel’s illegal settlement activities and demolition of Palestinian structures as well as violations committed by the Israeli occupation forces.

The Istanbul Declaration, adopted by the closing session of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly that currently consists of 42 member parliaments, welcomed the reconciliation deal signed by the Palestinian factions in Cairo last month. It also urged the international community to revive the peace process on the basis of the resolutions of international legitimacy and the Arab Peace Initiative.

Delegations from more than two dozen Asian countries participated in the three-day APA meetings in Istanbul, where many issues regarding peace in Asia were discussed including the conflicts in Yemen, Syria and Myanmar.
