Azerbaijan’s president meets OPEC chief in Baku

Baku Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev met with visiting Secretary General of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) Mohammed Barkindo, Azerbaijan news agency AZERTAC reported.

During the meeting, Aliyev said the visit is a good opportunity for Barkindo to familiarize himself with Azerbaijan’s historical places and modern development. He praised the successful development of Azerbaijan-OPEC cooperation, saying the country completely fulfills all its commitments to the Organization.

The president also hailed the effective and coordinated efforts taken by the secretary general and OPEC to maintain oil price stability, describing this as a good result of joint activities.

For his part, Barkindo noted Aliyev’s role in bringing OPEC and non-OPEC members together and commended Azerbaijan’s co-chairmanship of the high-level technical committee, which led to adopting the Declaration of Cooperation between OPEC and non-OPEC countries. He said Azerbaijan completely fulfilled all its obligations, adding that this demonstrates the countrys commitment to the agreement.
