Laser Cataract Surgery is the latest treatment modality in the world and first of such machine in the region is now installed in Karachi. Almost 50 percent of people over the age of 40 years are suffering from cataract disease or cataract changes. This was observed by eminent Eye Specialist and Surgeon Dr. Sharif Hashmani, Dr. Akhter Jamal Khan, Dr. Uzma Shaheen, Dr. Azfar Nafees and others.

They said with the modern Lensx technology now cataract surgery is very easy with maximum 99 percent accuracy. This latest treatment was introduced in 2010 in the west and developed countries and now we have this in Pakistan as well.

They said that ageing, ultraviolet rays and polluted diet are some of reasons of cataract. Cloudiness and low vision are the initial symptoms of this disease and should not be ignored. Cataract can be treated with better results within six to 12 months after symptoms are developed otherwise it will convert in glaucoma and the vision cannot be saved. However, cataract is 100 percent curable disease. The majority of patients do not need to use glasses after undergoing laser cataract surgery.
