Bulgarian FM: Sudan is vital EU partner in combating terrorism and human trafficking

Sofia (IINA) � Bulgaria’s Foreign Minister Ekaterina Zaharieva said Sudan remains one of the best European Union partners in combatting terrorism, violent extremism, illegal migration and human trafficking.

Ms. Zaharieva made the statement as she welcomed Sudanese Foreign Minister Prof. Ibrahim Ghandour, who was on a visit to the Balkan nation on Friday.

The two sides discussed ways of enhancing bilateral cooperation in the economic, trade, cultural and scientific domains as well as coordination of stands in international forums. They also reviewed areas of economic cooperation including industry, agriculture, food security and animal production, in addition to renewable energy.

Zaharieva said her country is well-versed in those areas and that Sudan and Bulgaria could develop and implement joint projects for the interest of the two peoples.

Both parties signed an agreement on the formation of a political consultation mechanism between the two countries and another one on diplomatic training cooperation.
