RATODERO: The Divisional Forest Officer, Larkana, Muhammad Ali Unar, in a circular letter addressed to Commissioner, Vice Chancellor, SMBBMU, Deputy Commissioner and 35 other Drawing & Disbursing Officers of Larkana, has requested to start spring tree plantation campaign 2014 in their respective areas & offices to combat climate hardships, ameliorate micro climate, reduce environmental pollution, increase life span of roads & paths, beautify the official buildings, schools, colleges, universities, play grounds, amenity plots etc.
In his letter, he further said that it was mandatory to boost up the social forestry practices in the towns, talukas and districts as a whole. He further requested the government officers to make this season successful by planting the maximum number of trees/sampling in offices, government buildings or areas lying your administrative control and subordinate offices to achieve the targets of tree plantation and make the district greener.
The DFC further wrote that the planting stock was available at nurseries, forest nursery near Circuit House, Larkana, Range Office, Dokri & Naundero.
The plants will be supplied at government subsidized rates along with the letter of department for supply of required number of container plants and added that it was quite regrettable that all departments/organizations demand the free of cost supply of container plants which was not possible.
Copies of this letter have also been sent to Chief Conservator of Forests, Sindh, Hyderabad, Sukkur and others. They have been advised to pay visits to the offices and provide all technical assistance so that plantation of season shall be made successful. They have further been asked to arrange seminars at Taluka level along with intimation to him.
