Caretaker CM Sindh orders imposition of Section 144 at examination centers

Karachi: Taking serious note of the incident that took place at an examination centre in Gulistan-e-Johar, Karachi, and Caretaker Chief Minister of Sindh has ordered imposition of Section 144 in the surroundings of all the examination centers where the SSC examinations are being held.

Spokesperson to Caretaker Chief Minister said that to ensure the smooth and peaceful conduct of SSC Part I & II examination a central control room has also been established at CM House under the especial directives of Caretaker CM and section 144 has also been imposed in the jurisdiction and surroundings of all the examination centers throughout the province.

He said that serious notice of yesterday’s untoward incident in Gulistan-e-Johar examination centre has been taken and concerned officers have been directed to submit report about the incident.

Spokesperson further said that Additional Chief Secretary Home and IG Police Sindh have been directed to strictly implement the section 144, stoppage of operating Photostat machines in the surrounding the exam centers, security of the candidates and exam invigilation staff and enhancing security personnel deployment at sensitive centers, stoppage of interference of irrelevant persons in the premises of the exam centers to curb the copy culture.

He said that the control rooms established at respective educational boards are directed to remain in continuous coordination with central control room at CM House during exam hours. “All the divisional Commissioners, Deputy Commissioners and officers of education department and concerned educational board officers have been directed for surprise/random visits through vigilance teams to ensure fair and transparent examination process,” he added.

Spokesperson said that divisional commissioners and officers of education boards have been given a per forma through which daily report about the conduct of examination is to be sent to Chief Minister Secretariat.

He said that concerned power distributing companies including KESC, HESCO & SEPCO have been directed to ensure uninterrupted power supply during examination hours to all centers across the province so that candidates may not face any difficulty.

Meanwhile, Governor Gilgit Baltistan Pir Karam Ali Shah called on Caretaker Chief Minister Sindh Justice R Zahid Qurban Alvi at CM House on Wednesday. Both the leaders exchanged their views about the upcoming general elections, political scenario and other matters of mutual interests.
