Islamabad: According to a Gilani Research Foundation survey carried out by Gallup Pakistan 64% of Pakistanis think that children teaching should be done in a soft manner.
A nationally representative sample of men and women from across the four provinces was asked “Some people believe that physical punishment to children in schools is necessary to teach them while others are against this idea.
In your opinion, should children be taught harshly or in a soft manner?” Responding to this, 64% said children should be taught in a soft manner and 30% said children should be taught harshly through physical punishment. However, 6% did not give a response.
The study was released by Gilani foundation and carried out by Gallup Pakistan, the Pakistani affiliate of Gallup International. The recent survey was carried out among a sample of 2662 men and women in rural and urban areas of all four provinces of the country, during February 11 to 18, 2013.
