CM chaired meeting of provincial cabinet on Wednesday

Peshawar: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Miniser Pervez Khattak chaired a meeting of the provincial cabinet on Wednesday evening which approved integrated security plan for the jails in the province and revitalization of police force in the province.

The cabinet also mad certain decisions and stressed on the training and capacity building of both the police force and the jail security staff.

The frontier constabulary would be deployed and redeployed on the border between the settled and tribal areas. It also decided to organize the police force and frontier constabulary as a fight force to tackle terror related activities.

The cabinet also decided to remove the weaknesses and deficiencies in the force and provided resources to remove the weaknesses and deficiencies of both the forces.

It also decided to provide professional trainings to run and manage jails throughout the province on professional lines. The provincial cabinet regretted the jail breaks in the province and stressed to avert such like situation in the future.

The police force and the frontier constabulary would jointly ensure foolproof security of jails and decided that frontier constabulary would be relegated to its original duties and it would be given modern age training.

The cabinet admitted that police force offered matchless sacrifices in the war against terror and in future it would face multifaceted new challenges. The cabinet stressed for developing coordination amongst the law enforcement agencies to fight terrorism and crimes.

The cabinet also agreed to raise the numerical strength of police force by providing additional manpower of 10504 police personnel which would cost 1781.685million rupees and also Okayed the construction of 31 police posts costing 800 million rupees which would be completed at two phases. The first phase would cost 445 million.

Addressing the cabinet the chief minister directed to cover the loopholes weaknesses and deficiencies in the overall security plans.

He said that the police force is responsible for the security of life and property of the people and must provide security to sensitive and important national installations. He directed to raise the level of preparedness of police force to meet new challenges and threats to the jail.

He also directed for the collective role of the law enforcement agencies to respond effectively to all security related challenges.
