QUETTA: National highways should be completed in Balochistan within two years. No compromise on Balochistan’s share in any sector would be made. There is special need on building national highways in the province.
This was stated by Balochistan Chief Minister Dr Abdul Malik Baloch whie speaking to Chairman National Highways authority in Islamabad Sunday.
Chief Minister was also briefed on national highways in Balochistan. He was told that Balochistan has 37.63 percent of total of national highways of the country. Of the total 12131 kilometres of highways in the country Balochistan has 4565 kilometres.
Expressing reservations over attitude of concerned quarters about road building in Balochistan in the past Dr Malik Baloch said excesses were made with this province. He strongly criticized that funds earmarked for highways in Balochistan were shifted to other provinces. He aid past excesses should now end. He aid building national highway sin the province demands of special attention. He said NHA officials should bring change in their working. Vesting entire work to a single company is should be given to different companies on separate portions.
He asked NHA to speed up work on national highways. He stressed the need for early completion of GwadarTurbatHoshab and KalatQuettaChaman highways at the earliest.
Assuring complete security to those working on NHA projects Chief Minister asked Chairman NHA that any more leniency or non attention in road building would not to acceptable.
