Commissioner Hyderabad meets VC UoS

HYDERABAD: Commissioner Hyderabad Jamal Mustafa Syed and Additional Commissioner Agha Sohail visited University of Sindh UoS Jamshoro and met vice chancellor Prof. Dr. Nazir A. Mughal at his office here on Thursday.

Both discussed the academic and research activities as well as law and order situation on the campus. The commissioner praised the untiring efforts made by Dr Mughal in the field of higher education in Pakistan, especially at University of Sindh, saying the varsity is growing fast to meet the academic challenges at global level under his dynamic and vibrant leadership in the modern times.

Dr Nazir A Mughal, the vice chancellor, said that he had introduced a number of reforms, including culture of research, culture of civility, & wisdom for change and tripled the budget allocated for the research on the campus in an attempt to produce more PhDs so that they might come forward to serve the country so as the nation.

He said no university could improve its performance and ranking until the research in abundance was not conducted, adding that by research, the objectives of higher education could be acquired to a great extent.

Dr Mughal told the guests that he had developed linkages programs with a lot of universities in China, Thailand, Malaysia and in other countries so that the scholars might be able to move freely towards these universities for career building, better opportunities and to cope with the challenges of present time.

He further said that his university had produced 185 PhDs within three years which he turned as an immense achievement and big triumph of the varsity.

Commissioner Hyderabad Jamal Mustafa Syed on the occasion stated that he visited the University of Sindh on courtesy call by the learned vice chancellor as according to him the interaction with the varsity administration was need of the day in order to strengthen the relations of divisional administration and University for the development and progress of community of Jamshoro District & Hyderabad Division.

He added that Sindh University was striving to impart higher education in the province especially and country in general and according to him the production of PhDs was a gigantic example of academic development of the University of Sindh.

He expressed joy over the production of 185 PhDs within short spin of time on the campus. Later, the Commissioner Hyderabad Jamal Mustafa Syed and Additional Commissioner Hyderabad Agha Sohail along with the Vice Chancellor Prof Dr. Nazir A. Mughal visited Institute of Sindhology and saw different parts of the museum there. He took interest in the corners of well-known personalities of Sindh including ex prime minister of Pakistan Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, Talpur rulers, Ahmed G. Chhangla Who composed national anthem, Mohtarma Shaheed Benazir Bhutto and other corners established therein. On the occasion, the vice chancellor decorated the guests with Sindh’s cultural gifts Topi & Ajrak.
