Concern shown over illegal detention of MQM workers

KARACHI: A joint meeting of the Coordination Committee of Muttahida Qaumi Movement, which was held at Nine Zero here on Thursday and attended by body’s deputy conveners and members, has expressed grave concern over the illegal arrests of MQM workers, torture in custody, extrajudicial killings, and targeting of the MQM workers in incidents of terrorism. The committee expressed serious apprehensions on the enforced disappearances of nine MQM workers.

The meeting unanimously decided that the MQM would hold protest demonstrations in the country and throughout the world against the illegal, unconstitutional and inhuman actions against the MQM. It was also decided that courts would also be approached against the brutal killings of MQM workers and enforced disappearances of several workers. It was decided that human rights organizations throughout the world would be informed about the repressive actions and conspiracies against the MQM.
