Cop beaten up by criminalsMarch 24, 2014
NAUNDERO: A police constable was beaten up by criminals for arresting a wanted man in Naundero. City In charge, Mazhar Shahani, told reporters that he spotted a man, Nadir Makol, son of Ali Gohar, who was wanted by Dari and Civil Lines police stations of Larkana in FIRs lodged against him for preparing handmade wine due to which over 10 persons had lost their precious lives sometime ago in Larkana.
Shahani said that as soon as he caught the wanted man who was standing outside Dera of one Habib Khokhar, he started raising hue and cry due to which Khokhar community people, including Habib Khokhar and Ali Khan Khokhar, came out and started beating him with wooden sticks, tearing his uniform.
They hurled threats of life and got the wanted man freed as he was alone. He said that he returned back to Naundero police station and narrated the whole story to SHO Muhammad Mangrio and requested him to take action and arrest the culprits but to his utter surprise, SHO asked him to keep silent and do nothing, otherwise you would face consequences as they were criminals.
He said that if the offenders were not taken to task within next 24 hours, he would immolate himself before DIGP office for which only police should be held responsible. Mazhar further said that due to such reasons and cold attitude of higher police officers of giving shelter to criminals, the morale of the police force was declining day by day.
He urged the higher authorities to take notice of the incident, highhandedness of SHO and order registration of proper FIR against the people involved in the act and necessary action against the police officer.
It may be noted here that few days ago, two police constables were deprived of their bikes when they were going back to their villages after performing their police duties.
Ketty Mumtaz police station arrived. They were headed by SHO Muhammad Ali Korai who was also beaten up by villagers along with his gunman Abdul Ghani Supro. Another constable Nawaz Khakhrani also received severe blows for resisting his motorcycle snatching bid by armed men due to which he too was seriously injured and was admitted to Chandka Hospital in Larkana for treatment but police have done nothing as yet to bring the gangsters too.
