CPNE to hold media protection convention

Karachi: Council of Pakistan news papers Editors (CPNE) has decided to organize a Media Convention to prepare a compact Security plan for the safety and protection for editors, journalists, newspaper workers and media houses.

Political parties, journalist’s organization, human rights activist, NGOs and Civil society representatives will be invited to address the convention.

This was decided during an emergency meeting which was called to condemn the attack on Express media house last night. Sr. Vice president, CPNE Ilyas Shakir chaired the meeting.

It was also decided that CPNE delegation will meet Governor & Chef Minister of Sindh, IG police and other officials continuous attacks on journalists and media houses and threats being received from extremists, fascist and defunct organizations to usurp the freedom of the press as well as to their life.

During the meeting CPNE demanded to arrest the culprits involved in attacks on journalists and media house and their immediate trial.

Speaking on this occasion, Secretary General, CPNE Dr. Jabbar Khattak appreciated an offer of a renowned Security Company of the country to provide proper training of security guards deployed at media houses and to provide a comprehensive security plan after conducted the survey of the office location.
