The155th death anniversary of renowned poet Mirza Asadullah Khan Ghalib was observed on Thursday.
Mirza Ghalib was born in Agra on December 27, 1797 and initially started his poetic passion in Persian language. Later, he also wrote poetry in Urdu language.
Ghalib wrote hundreds of Ghazals during his life which have since been interpreted and sung in many different ways.
His poetic works Diwan-i-Ghalib, Kulyat and Maktoobat were published in Persian language.
Mirza Ghalib was also an exceptional letter writer. His letters have also been translated into English by Ralph Russell.
Mirza Ghalib died in 1869 in Delhi.
