DFID team calls on provincial Minister

Peshawar: The Head of the Department for International Development DFID Mr. George Turkington along with his team on Wednesday called on the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Zakat, Auqaf and Religious Affairs, Haji Habibur Rahman at Civil Secretariat, Peshawar. On this occasion, Ex-Minister for Zakat, Hafiz Hashmat, Secretary Auqaf Gul Zaib Khan and other
Concerned officials were also present on the occasion.

They remained with the provincial minister for some time and briefed him about the functioning of DFID and sought his suggestions on various projects to be launched in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province.

Expressing thanks to visiting DFID Head, the provincial minister Habibur Rahman appreciated the efforts of the donor agency saying that he wanted to establish Model Deeni Madaris in the province wherein apart from religious education; other social sciences including IT will also be taught to the students.

About the suggestions, the DFID Head proposed that same idea should be incorporated in the developmental strategy of the government. Haji Habibur Rahman agreed with him and added that the present government was focusing special attention on education sector and coordinated efforts would be ensured at all levels to achieve the desired goal.
