DIG Traffic directed to devise rain emergency plan

KARACHI: Inspector General of Police Sindh Shahid Nadeem Baloch has directed Additional IG Traffic to devise a rain emergency plan providing facilities to commuters on roads in the city.

In a statement, he said that traffic police personnel should be deployed on main highways, traffic junctions, intersections and roundabouts in view of expected monsoon rains. He said that steps should be taken to streamline traffic flow during expected rains.

He said that cranes and machinery should be made available to pull out vehicles stuck upping on roads during rains. DIG Traffic should ensure presence of traffic section officials in relevant areas and implement rain emergency plan, he said.

IGP said that alternative routes should also be arranged in view of any inundation of road, particularly in low-lying areas.
