District: Anti measles camping starts in Sialkot

Sialkot: The ten-day national anti-measles campaign on Friday began at Sialkot district. District administration Sialkot and Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) jointly arranged an anti-measles awareness raising walk in Sialkot.

Walk began from District Courts’ Prof. Asghar Saudai Chowk and ended at the grand building of Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) on Paris Road after passing through all the main inter-city roads. Provincial Secretary Social Welfare Punjab Fehmeeda Mushtaq and Sialkot DCO Lt (Rtd) Iftikhar Ali Saahu jointly led the walk. A large number of the people including traders, industrialists, exporters, educationists, newsmen, officials of police, health, education and social welfare departments and representatives of different NGOs and CSOs participated in the walk.

On this occasion, the Sialkot DCO Lt (Rtd) Iftikhar Ali Saahu told the newsmen that as many as 1.1 million children (between the ages of six months to ten years) would be given the anti- measles vaccine by Sialkot health department’s as many as 127 special teams while visiting door to door during this ten days long national campaign in Sialkot district’s all the four Sialkot, Daska, Sambrial and Pasrur teams till July 07, 2013 (before the advent of Holy month of Ramzan.
