District: Pakistan students has potential to become part of world force: AmbassadorApril 6, 2013
Islamabad: Ms. Cecilie Landsverk, Norwegian Ambassador in Pakistan has said that Pakistani Students has the potential to become part of the world force which can play their role to meet the global challenges faced by the world especially in the field of environmental protections.
She stated this while addressing as chief guest the 50th Convocation of COMSATS Institute of Information & Technology Abbottabad here on Saturday. Ms.Cecilie stressed upon the more and more youth exchange programs between two countries and remarked that Pakistani researchers and students who had joined the Inter Universities alliance of both countries are yielding positive results and offered to increase the academia youth exchange program with more universities of Pakistan with Norwegian universities.
She was very much impressed with the remarkable achievements of the Pakistani students especially of COMSATS Abbottabad which is currently affiliated with number of Universities in Norway. Professor Dr.Peter Langar, Head of Division Organic Chemistry University of Rostok & Institute of Chemistry Germany was given special medal for his services. Earlier Director of the COMSATS Dr.Khan Gul Jadoon while giving the progress report told that Institute which was established in 2001 is now currently offering 17 graduate and 19 postgraduate programs while 3 new programs will be started in coming academic year.
The number of students has crossed the figure of 5,000 where highly qualified faculty of 400 which includes 130 PhD’s staff is imparting education to the students. 225 Research papers were published while COMSATS has set unique example in the country with record number of International collaboration with highly ranked universities of UK, USA, China, Norway, Australia, Germany, Malaysia and others. Institute has also established “Orphanage Home” where 100 kids are provided sweet home facility by sponsoring their education and living expenditure.
462 students were awarded degrees in Master, Bachelor program and PhD’s while 45 position holders were awarded special medals for their outstanding performance in their faculties. Students were awarded degrees in Project Management Sciences, Business Administration, Banking & finance, Economics, Earth Sciences, Environmental Sciences, Telecommunication Networking, Computer Sciences, Development Students, Electrical Engineering Mathematics, Electrical Power Engineering,.
Rector of COMSATS Dr.Juniad Zaidi while speaking at the occasion declared the day as landmark in the history of COMSATS which had successfully organized the 50th convocation, the golden jubilee of the convocations and proud to be the thousands of graduates produced by this institute currently serving in the country and abroad and are truly an asset of the country.
