District: Poultry farmers, dealers created artificial shortage of poultry

Sialkot: The poultry farmers and dealers have created the artificial shortage of poultry and eggs in Sialkot district, due to which the prices of the poultry meat and eggs were jumped to the highest level of this winter season. The whole sale rate of the per dozen eggs was Rs. 115 to 120 per dozen while the retailers were selling the eggs at the rate of Rs. 130 in retail in Sialkot district’s all the four Sialkot, Daska, Sambrial and Pasrur tehsils. There was a shortage of the chicken at the poultry shops due to which the rate of the chicken meat today jumped to Rs. 255 per KG.

The shop keepers said that the poultry farmers have hoarded and stocked the chicken at their farms in a bid to get the prices of chickens increased up to Rs. 300 per KG at least in the local markets.
