District: Sindh Govt, all political forces join hands to maintain peace in Karachi: Rana TanveerAugust 31, 2013
Chakwal: Federal Minister for Defense production Rana Tanveer Ahmed on Saturday told that if Sindh government and all other political forces join hands together to maintain peace at Karachi, the rangers and police departments were enough to control situation and there was no need of Army to be called to restore peace at Karachi.
Karachi is the hub of economic activity and the restoration of peace is linked with the prosperity and sovereignty of the country. He was talking to the media at Dera Sultan, Talagang at the residence of Malik Saleem Iqbal before attending a bull race.
Provincial Minister for housing, Malik Tanveer Aslam, Maj. Tahir Iqbal MNA, Malik Aslam Sethi, Haji Abdul Razaq Jaami, Malik Falaq Sher Awan and others were present on the occasion.
Federal minister further told that Prime Minister Nawaz Shareef would visit Karachi very shortly and all the stake holders would be consulted and final decision would be taken with consensus and the restoration of peace at Karachi was the prime objective of the government.
Responding to another question, Federal Minister was of the view that load shedding in the country would be reduced to 5% after three years as serious measures are being taken and at the present system the government has produced 16000 MW record production but the demand was also increasing.
Responding to another question, Federal Minister further told that PPP government failed to add even a single megawatt of electricity in the system during the last five years.
He said that partyless local bodies’ elections were necessary and PMLN was not in defensive position as the party enjoyed the heavy mandate of Punjab province and local bodies’ party elections suit to PMLN in the present circumstances but Punjab Assembly adopted the local bodies’ bill after consulting each and every stake holder of the local bodies’ election.
He was confident that people of good repute would be elected in the coming election. Later on the minister participated in the bull race and thousands of people attended the gathering.
