Doctors continue protest in LarkanaFebruary 26, 2014
RATODERO: Hundreds of doctors of Pakistan Medical Association (PMA), Larkana working in Chandka Medical College & Hospital & All Pakistan Clerks Association Larkana members, Hindu traders & shopkeepers took out a large rally from Institute of Child Healthcare.
They staged sit-in and held protest demonstration for the second consecutive day at Jinnah Bagh roundabout against the brutal attack on a Hindu senior Paediatrician of Chandka Medical College Hospital, Dr. Partab, on Monday evening when he was busy in examining a patient inside his private clinic located on Bakrani road.
Family sources said that the injured doctors’ body has been paralyzed due to bullets that hit him in the abdomen which damaged his vital parts. The agitating doctors and others are demanding registration of FIR against the accused and their arrest who fired the doctor without any reason and immediate transfer of SSP Larkana. The agitating doctors dispersed peacefully at Larkana Press Club after recording their resentment over non-acceptance of their just & legal demands so far.
The Hindu community of entire Larkana city is keeping their business & shops closed daily up to 12.00 pm since Tuesday in protest against the increased lawlessness and rise in criminals acts against them and other civil society members including burglaries during day time. The Hindu community also shut their entire business today on Wednesday and participated in the protest organized by the PMA & others. They were holding banners and chanting slogans against the Larkana SSP Khalid Mustafa Korai and again demanded his immediate transfer to bring back peace in Larkana district.
PMA General Secretary, Dr. Ikram Tunio, told PPI that all OPDs throughout the Larkana district have been boycotted, only emergency Operation theatres are working and old OTs have been closed as well to press the government to accept their demand to shift SSP out of Larkana. He said that indoor patients are being provided medical treatment but no new patient is being admitted in any ward except emergency cases which require emergency treatment to save his/her life.
He further said that it has already been decided in the PMA general body meeting & implemented from today that all private clinics will also remain closed from today for 48 hours if the government failed to transfer SSP Korai out of Larkana. He further said that honest & dedicated SSPs must be posted on merit who will work for the benefit of the common man otherwise incompetent police officers having political backing will never deliver.
The protest was participated by Dr. Shah Baig Chandio, Dr. Ikram Tunio, Prof: Afsar Bhutto, Prof: Sher Muhammad Shaikh, Prof: Khursheed Abbasi & Malik Jalbani, Dr. Adeeb Inqilabi, Dr. Qayoom Memon, and paramedic office bearers Zulfiqar Sahto and Shahi Jagirani.
Meanwhile, Sindh High Court Bar Association, Larkana, in its general body meeting held recently in the High Court Bar room also unanimously passed a resolution demanding that SSP Korai be transferred forthwith and some honed competent SSP be posted in his place.
The resolution further said that since the police administration in Larkana district has totally failed to provide security to the general public in general and the members of the Bar in particular to provide legal protection to the advocates of Larkana, despite several approaches, as such circumstance it was unanimously resolved that SSP Khalid Mustafa Korai be transferred forthwith and some other honest competent SSP be posted in his place.
It was further resolved that the district police should provide security to advocate Athar Abbas Solangi as he is still facing serious threats from the criminals. They further unanimously resolved that the culprits involved in the offence registered at Ratodero police station be arrested and the valuables be got recovered. Copies of this resolution have been sent to higher authorities but no action has so far been taken resulting unrest among the lawyers fraternity..
