Economy moving towards stability due to steps taken by Govt: Hammad

Minister of State for Revenue Hammad Azhar says economy is moving towards stability due to steps taken by the government.

Addressing a ceremony for risk based selection of cases for audit in Islamabad on Thursday, he said aggressive tax broadening scheme will be started in a month or two in order to bring those people into tax net who are evading it.

The state minister said FBR is now focusing more on quality rather than quantity and is reducing the number of notices sent for tax compliance.

Hammad Azhar dispelled the impression that government has agreed on exchange rate of dollar with the IMF.

He said the foreign exchange reserves are steadily increasing since January this year. He said as a result of stabilization measures, the deficits are on downward trajectory.

Hammad Azhar said the performance of the officers will also be evaluated and there working environment will be improved. He said technology will also be focused to further enhance the performance of FBR. He said, in future, tax filers will be facilitated while, there will be issues for non-filers. He said reserving the foreign exchange is our top priority.

On the occasion, Hammad Azhar also launched new and user-friendly website of the FBR with the addition of several new features to facilitate tax payers.
