ECP issues notification for successful candidates on reserved seatsMay 28, 2013
Islamabad: The Election Commission of Pakistan ECP has issued a notification for successful candidates on reserved seats for women and minorities in the National Assembly. According to the notification, PMLN has been given 35 seats raising its strength in the house to 186. PPP has been allotted 7 seats‚ PTI 6‚ MQM 4‚ and JUIF 3 seats.
National People’s Party‚ Jamaat-e-Islami‚ PMLF‚ and Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party have been given one seat each. PPP and PMLQ secured equal points in Punjab against one seat therefore‚ it will be decided through toss. Apart from women reserved seats‚ PMLN has been given 6 non-Muslim seats whereas PPP‚ PTI‚ JUIF and MQM have secured one seat each.
Meanwhile the Election Commission announced schedule to fill eight vacant seats reserved for women in the National Assembly and seven reserved seats for women in the Punjab Assembly due to exhaustion of the list earlier provided by the PML N.
Nomination papers can be filed with the Returning Officer by the candidates by today Wednesday. Scrutiny will be held the day after tomorrow and the revised list of candidates would be published on 31st of this month. PML N is required to file additional lists of their candidates in order of priority to fill the vacant seats in the National Assembly and the Punjab Assembly.
