Peshawar: Tribesmen in different parts of Fata including North Waziristan, Mohmand Agency, khyber Agency and people in some areas of the Khyber Pukhtunkhwa have observed Eid on Thursday after local clerics had announced Eid prayers to be offered at different areas.

At Landikotal Tehsil of Khyber Agency Eid was observed on Thursday after a local committee received Eid Shahadates from moon witnesses.

Similarly tribesmen from Akka khel area of Bara tehsil in Khyber Agency have decided to observe Eid on Thursday since they had synced the start of Ramazan with Saudi Arabia, and will observe Eid with them.

In Mohmand Agency the local committee had also announced Eid on Thursday therefore people in large number observed Eid on Thursday and offered prayers at mosques and open areas. The local committee at Ghalanai received Eid sighting shahadats.

In Parts of Mardan people did not fast however they were unable to offer Eid prayers. The local clerics were of the view that they did not hold Eid congregations to avoid differences but did not fast as Thursday was Eid day. Some people in Shabqader Tehsil of Charsadda district have also observed Eid on Thursday.

Similarly Afghan Refugees in Peshawar and other areas also observed Eid on Thursday. Bigh Eid congregations were held in Hayatabad and Kacha Ghari and Shamshato camp.

Some of the people in Peshawar also criticized the role of Qasim Ali Khan mosque’s moon sighting committee and opined that the committee did not held its meeting on Wednesday to record the moon sighting Shadats from different parts of the province.

People say Qasim Ali Khan mosque should stop the practice for ever and leave the job to the central moon sighting committee.
