Election facilities plan ordered for Hyderabad

HYDERABAD: District Sessions Judge Hyderabad Hassan Feroze who was also District Returning Officer DRO Hyderabad has directed district administration Hyderabad to prepare foolproof Security and transportation plan for the forthcoming general elections and to ensure that all required facilities are available at the building reserved for polling stations before the Election Day, 11th May, 2013.

This he directed while presiding over a meeting regarding arrangements for the general elections at his office here on Monday. Addressing the meeting, Hassan Feroze asked the SSP Hyderabad to ensure security plan for the polling stations, polling staff and polling material. He said that supply of drinking water, uninterrupted power, and gas should be ensured at each polling station.

He also directed that the rooms, including head master/principle office, kitchen and lavatory facilities should be unlocked as same would be essentially required to the election staff who according to him have.

DRO Hyderabad also asked the officers to identify the problems/bottlenecks if any at polling station, so that same should be got resolved before polling day and added that the polling process must be in peaceful manner. He said that staff assigned for election duty must attend his/her duty, failing which action would be taken against defaulters.

Deputy Commissioner Hyderabad Mohammad Nawaz Soho said that all Assistant Commissioners and Mukhtiarkars in his district were actively working for having smooth election proceedings. He said that district administration with the facility of Regional Transport Authority had prepared contingency plan for providing all type of transportation facilities to the officers/organization engaged in election duty.

He assured the chair that the missing facilities if any at the buildings of polling station would be made available before the polling day.

SSP Hyderabad Saqib Ismail Memon while briefing the meeting said that arrangements for 150 highly sensitive polling stations, 181 sensitive and remaining normal polling stations have been finalized. In addition to DC, SSP Hyderabad, the administrator HMC Syed Barkat Ahmed Rizvi, District Election Officer Ali Asghar Syed, Additional Deputy Commissioner I & II Hyderabad, All Assistant Commissioners Hyderabad, Secretary RTA and officers of other lined departments attended the meeting.
