Emir of Kuwait: Islamic world faces challenges requiring Muslims’ unity, solidarity

Kuwait (UNA-OIC) � Emir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah on Wednesday called for strengthening unity and solidarity among Muslims to tackle the serious political and security challenges facing the Islamic world.

In his address on the occasion of the last 10 days of Ramadan, he said: “Our Muslim world is witnessing nowadays a painful reality and dangerous political and security challenges. Thus, we ought to cement unity of Muslims’ ranks and their solidarity the in face of challenges to repel the hazards.”

The emir affirmed that the State of Kuwait continues to nudge the United Nations Security Council to enable the Palestinian people to attain their legitimate rights.

“We have been following up on the recent developments in the occupied Palestinian territories, where we have been seeking with our brothers and friends to nudge the Security Council and the international community to shoulder the responsibility toward this plight and attain legitimate rights as stipulated by the international legitimacy toward this cause,” he said.

Recalling the plights, wars, conflicts, insecurity and instability suffered by Arab states, namely Syria and Yemen, Sheikh Sabah Al-Jaber renewed his call for the Yemeni parties to sit again at the negotiating table to reach the desired political solution to end the sufferings of the Yemeni people, and ensure restoration of security and stability to their country.
