Pangrio, Sindh: The increase of Rs400 per maund in the price of Phutti has brought smiles on the faces of local cotton growers. Now the phutti price has jumped from Rs2700 to Rs 3100 per 40 kilograms.

Pangrio, Shadi Large, Nindo, Khoski, Malkani Sharif, Tando Bago and Jhaddo are major cotton growing areas of district Badin in lower Sindh and with increase in Phutti rate the growers would be encouraged to focus on cotton crop.

Grower leaders Haji Khan Pitafi, Amjad Khan and Madad Ali Kamboh are of the opinion that more ginning factories should be opened in district Badin, especially near cotton growing centers. They said the input costs are rising sharply and better rates would certainly help in improving financial conditions of the cotton growers. They said if the government pays proper attention this area has the capacity of becoming cotton belt of Pakistan.
