Chairperson of Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), Shabbar Zaidi, has said that the board will issue notices to around 100,000 nonfilers who own a house bigger than 500 yards or an above 1000cc vehicle.

While talking to media, the FBR chairperson said that the board will bring the nonfilers to the tax net. He further told that the date for filing tax returns has been extended by up to two months to enable maximum people to file their tax returns.

The government has been taking many steps to widen the tax net across the country. While offering many incentives to the filers, it has also decided to crack down on the nonfilers as well.

Earlier, the FBR refuted the rumors that the board is imposing a heavy withholding tax on rickshaw or motorcycles. It was being speculated that the government has slapped withholding tax on motorcycles and rickshaws after which the registration fee has exceeded Rs. 20,000.
