Fire Brigade and Rescue Unit to be linked with CECR

KARACHI: KMC Administrator Syed Hashim Raza Zaidi has said that natural disasters and incidents could not be stopped, however, loss of human life and property in such incidents thorough comprehensive plan could be reduced.

Citizens along with first aid should gain basic training. KMC Fire Brigade and Rescue Unit will be linked with Central Emergency Control Room CECR established under Disaster Management Plan so that in case of any emergency citizens could be provided with required services immediately. He said this while addressing a meeting of Transport & Communication Department with reference to Road Safety and Traffic Injury Prevention.

Administrator Karachi said that comprehensive and effective Accident & Disaster Management Plan was prepared for big cities in whole world under which splendid strategy was formed for dealing with accidents and natural disasters whereas complete record of such incidents was also maintained and complete enquiry of causes of incident was done to ensure safety of citizens’ life and property in case of such situation in future and prompt help could be sent without any delay.

He said that Central Emergency Control Room was very important for Karachi where citizens would be able to inform about any incident and the staff through modern system available in control room could monitor every type of incidents and disasters on any location in the city and save injured people and also provides medical aid to victims. Staff through modern system in control room will be provided with every type of necessary information. Along with traffic condition on all roads information about every necessary facility available in hospitals including quantity of empty beds could be gained.

He said that surveys in all areas and maintaining their record were underway and complete information about every concerned department in disaster will be available in control room.

Implementation on this project will help reducing lose in case of incidents and disasters. In the meeting Road Traffic Injury Research & Prevention Centre presented its report about traffic accidents and informed about traffic accidents condition and measures for improvement taken by Transport & Communication Department. Administrator Karachi directed Road Traffic Injury Research Centre to have proper contact with Traffic Police and take every possible measure to curb incidents in the city.

He said that contact with all concerned departments in this connection should be enhanced and comprehensive and coordinated plan to curb incidents should be implemented.
